Vidal Retires From Chile National Team After World Cup Failure

ARTURO VIDAL IS set to retire from global football, insisting that his "soul is crushed" after Chile failed to qualify for next summer's World Cup in Russian Federation.

- Arturo Vidal has backtracks on his decision to retire from worldwide football.

The FC Bayern münchen midfielder Arturo Vidal has decided not to play for his national team.

On Tuesday night, back-to-back Copa America winners Chile were knocked out of World Cup qualifying following a 3-0 defeat in Brazil.

He announced the retirement in an emotional post on social media, "Thank you lads, for everything, for all these years together. for teaching me and for showing a country that with effort and work anything is possible in life", Vidal wrote in Spanish on Twitter. And I will not abandon it (the team). We will go together to the end.

Alongside Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez, Vidal is one of the key members of the current golden generation of Chile players that claimed the Copa America in 2015 and 2016.

In the worldwide arena Arturo Vidal was twice victor of the America's Cup (2016 and 2017) and at the last confederations Cup in Russian Federation helped the national team of Chile to reach the final.

'A warrior can cry, feel fear and even disappointment, but he never surrenders or leaves before death, ' he said.

He was also in the Chile squad to the South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cups.
