Charges Laid Over Oakleigh Hit And Run

A 20-year-old man has been charged following a fatal hit and run that killed a Melbourne nurse, Victorian police have confirmed.

She initially survived the crash but died soon afterwards.

"Lynda leaves behind many shocked and devastated friends and family members", the family said in a statement on Tuesday.

She was remembered by her family as a compassionate and caring woman who worked as a cardiac nurse.

He was arrested on a parole warrant and taken to hospital for a health check before being returned to the Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre, north-west of Melbourne, police said.

At the same time MCIU detectives executed a charge and warrant on the man and he has been charged with culpable driving, unsafe driving causing death, fail to stop after collision with a fatality, fail to render assistance after fatal collision, theft of motor vehicle and drive whilst disqualified.

Ms Hansen's family said the beloved 53-year-old was a "very caring and family orientated" person.

He's expected to face court on Monday.
