"We're now caring for this pup and we just can't imagine someone would do this to their own dog so we are wondering if this dog might have been stolen", The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin posted on its Facebook page Wednesday.

Who abandoned this dying dog in the rain outside the Calgary Humane Society? .

The puppy swam to the river bank, and the fisherman brought the dog to the humane society.

On Tuesday, October 10, peace officers with the Calgary Humane Society responded to a location near the intersection of 24 Street and Anderson Road Southwest following reports a puppy had been abandoned in a garbage dumpster.

After assessing her condition, veterinarians made the decision to euthanize the animal.

The wounded dog, believed to be a Labrador/Australian Cattle Dog cross, was alive but in severe medical distress. "Regardless of how the injuries happened, which may have been innocent enough, the discarding of the puppy is what we're concerned with".

"The reason we're putting this out there at this point is because there's no ID on the animal and it was found in a public place", Nichols added.

Anyone with relevant information is asked to call the Calgary Humane Society at 403-205-4455, and reference file number 25613C.
