Former Brighton High School and University of Southern California linebacker Osa Chad Masina, who had been charged with felony rape, has pleaded guilty to lesser charges and will avoid trial.

Masina, 20, pleaded guilty to 3 charges of sexual battery during a hearing on Thursday morning in Salt Lake City. He was scheduled to stand trial next week on a first-degree felony charge of rape and two other first-degree felony charges. Neither Hill nor Masina were criminally prosecuted in Los Angeles for the incident, in which the alleged victim claimed the men forced intercourse upon her. She said she passed out at a party and woke up "scared and helpless" to Masina raping her. Masina could face up to one year of jail time for each charge, and his sentencing will take place in 45 to 60 days. As part of the plea deal, Masina acknowledged that he "touched [the victim's] breast and buttocks in a matter that he should have known would have caused her affront or alarm". Those included pornographic photos on the victim's phone and testimony from her ex-boyfriend regarding a Snapchat video that allegedly showed Masina and the victim having sex without her knowledge of its recording.

USC dismissed Masina from the football team last September.
