Friends, family and colleagues will bid a final farewell to a MA police officer who died a day after a crash on Interstate 95 in New Hampshire.

Hundreds gathered Thursday at his wake to pay their respects to the 55-year-old police officer who died earlier this week from injuries he received when a teenager allegedly slammed into him head-on in a wrong-way crash on I-95 in New Hampshire.

In a statement read by Somerville Police Lt. James Polito, Remigio's daughters, Danielle and Alexandria, described his dedication to his family and the community he served.

A funeral is being held Friday at St.

Daughters Danielle and Alexandra lost their mother previous year to an illness and said their father worked harder after that to make sure their family traditions stayed alive.

Friends and family members remembered "Louie" Remigio as a role model who worked "tirelessly", but always made time for his family and was a fixture on the sidelines of his daughters' soccer games.

Funeral services will be held this morning.
