From Instagram posts to morning smoothies, you can not seem to escape the avocado in 2017.

Eurobanan's Isla Bonita brand, a Spanish fruit company, has now invented a new product that they are calling what they are an "Avocado Light" - a diet version of a traditional avocado that has 30 percent less fat than variety you'd typically find in a grocery store.

The company say the benefits of their special avocado also include rapid ripening and slow oxidation.

So, surely this means there's no need to reduce the fat content?

Nobody asked for a low-fat avocado, but Spain is giving it to us anyway.

Most of this is monosaturated fat, which has been linked to the reduction of cholesterol and lowered risk of cancer and heart disease.

Given how popular avocados are around the world, it would make sense if you thought the fruit could never be improved.

A large avocado contains about 330 calories, just under one fifth of the daily recommended intake for an average woman.

It was unclear if the fruit tasted any different but its makers said it has a "soft and pleasant pulp".
