Las Vegas hospitals are stepping up to aid the victims of the October 1 mass shooting by paying off their uninsured medical costs. Rose Dominican the said the hospital "does not intend to bill or require payment from any patient victims of this tragic event".

There are reportedly still 26 victims in critical condition in Vegas hospitals, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

Instead, the hospital will look to recoup some of the cost by billing any third-party payers and accepting donations from the community. American Medical Response and MedicWest Ambulance have also said that they will not bill victims or their families for rides taken from the Route 91 Harvest Festival grounds to hospitals.

After the mass shooting on Orlando, Florida, last year, the two major hospitals treating victims waived all out-of-pocket medical expenses, worth at least $5.5m (£4.1m), the Orlando Sentinel reported.
