The NFL is keeping an eye on the wildfires in Northern California and has been exploring options to move Sunday's game between the Oakland Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers if it becomes necessary.

Joe Lockhart, the NFL's executive vice president of communications and public affairs, said in a conference call with reporters Friday morning that the league, based on its handling of similar situations, would not wait until the day before a game to decide if it must be relocated. The stadium will host USC vs. Utah at 5 p.m. PT Saturday, about 20 hours before when Raiders-Chargers would occur if kept at its scheduled kickoff time. At that stage, the Environmental Protection Agency suggests "People with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children should avoid prolonged or heavy exertion".

The StubHub Center, the Chargers' home in Carson, already has an MLS match scheduled for Sunday.

During practice this week, several players wore face masks.
