Both 2016's Deadpool and this year's Logan have found great success in terms of critical acclaim and box office gross as X-Men spinoff movies.

Since the teaser trailer for New Mutants is arriving on Friday the 13th, it seems like they are leaning pretty heavily into that idea.

Twentieth Century Fox unveiled the teaser trailer for New Mutants, which you can watch above, after director Josh Boone teased its release on Instagram. It walked them through a trilogy of New Mutant films that would build on each other. Reports have suggested Fox is looking to make a younger mark on the X-Men franchise and put its new adolescent heroes in a horror scenario. The creepy factor is set early - long, dark industrial hallways, followed by a not-so-comforting-looking Alice Braga telling our five young mutants - Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams, The Witch's Anya Taylor-Joy, Stranger Things' Charlie Heaton, 13 Reasons Why's Henry Zaga, and The Original's Blu Hunt - that they are there because they are risky. They'll be joined by Alice Braga (I Am Legend) as their mentor Dr. Cecilia Reyes.

We don't know a whole lot about the film so far, but what we do know suggests that it will be quite different from anything we've seen before.

Filming on New Mutants wrapped earlier this fall, so it was only a matter of time until the film's first trailer dropped.

The New Mutants adapts the monthly comic book series of the same name that launched in 1982. He's even stated that he doesn't like most horror films, but he wrote The New Mutants with Knate Lee and is known to be a big Stephen King fan.
