They wrapped up the NL Division Series against the Washington Nationals on Thursday night.

The Cubs' flight was diverted to Albuquerque, New Mexico due to an ill family member on board, according to MLB's Jon Morosi.

The unscheduled landing occurred around 7:30 a.m. EDT, and eventually the plane was allowed to take off around 12:30 p.m.

The Cubs' flight landed in Albuquerque at around 5:30 a.m. local time and sat on the tarmac for more than three hours because a new flight crew was needed after the original crew hit their restricted pilot hours, according to CBS Chicago.

In this instance, Albuquerque International Sunport spokesman Daniel Jiron told the Associated Press, the crew had "timed out", which meant the plane's passengers had to wait for a second crew to arrive to continue their journey.

The first game of the seven-game series is schedule for Saturday at Dodger Stadium.
