Nabil Fekir scored a dramatic stoppage-time victor as Ligue 1 champions Monaco were beaten 3-2 by Lyon in a pulsating encounter.

Prior to the late drama, it looked like as if all the scoring had been done in the first half at Parc OL. Lyon moved up to third place ahead of this weekend's matches.

Monaco are second on 19 points, three behind leaders Paris St Germain, who are away at Dijon on Saturday.

Rony Lopes coolly stroked home Monaco's first equaliser and the visitors levelled again through Adama Traore's thunderbolt, before Fekir's victor.

Rony Lopes hit back for Monaco, who were playing without Radamel Falcao after his exploits for Colombia in the worldwide break, but Fekir put Lyon back in front.

Fekir won the free kick in the fifth minute of injury time, and then stepped up to curl the ball inside the bottom left corner from 25 meters (yards) for his seventh league goal in nine games.

Lyon started with all guns blazing as new boy Mariano, signed from Real Madrid, nearly stole a goal sneaking up on Danijel Subasic on the line only to hit the post.

It was Fekir who set up Diaz in the 11th minute with a cross from the left wing to the back post, but Lopes equalized in the 17th.

Monaco levelled six minutes later with Rony Lopes finishing off a sharp counter attack.

Lyon had a penalty claim turned down when Mariano fired an effort against arm of Glik and that decision proved decisive when Traore produced magnificent moment on 34 minutes, collecting a low pass from Lopes and thundering a right-footed effort into the top corner from 20 yards.

Monaco nearly took their first lead of the match early in the second half when only a vital block from Mouctar Diakhaby denied Keita from close range after keeper Anthony Lopes had flapped at a cross and saved an initial attempt from Thomas Lemar.

But Lyon had chances too, Subasic making a key save with his legs to deny Mariano from a presentable opportunity.

All of Fekir's seven goals have come in Lyon's five home games this season.
