A Cody High School student was arrested Wednesday after making terroristic threats, according to a Cody Police report and Park 6 superintendent Ray Schulte.

Pickens County School District coordinator of communication John Eby said there was never a threat received by any district school.

This week, rumors about a threat against Easley High School began to circulate.

Eby and Culler stressed that no threat was ever made or received by any school in the district. This speculation turned into rumors that a threat had actually been made.

At 10 a.m. Scarice and DHHS Principal Anthony Salutari sent out a notification to parents, informing them that situation is under control and appropriate measures are being taken.

The Powhatan County Sheriff's Office said the investigation revealed that the student lacked the immediate means to carry out his threat.

"The rumors were fueled entirely by speculation from students and parents", Culler said.

Rumors of a threat against Daniel Hand High School (DHHS) quickly spread across social media and put parents on high alert.

"Every student we have talked to has said, "Oh well I don't have it" or 'A friend of mine told me they saw it, '" he said.

The Easley Police Department posted on its Facebook page that additional resources have been allocated and police presence will be noticeable at both Gettys Middle School and Easley High School. We are also grateful to the Easley Police Department for their response to this issue, and for the parents who trust our school and the EPD to keep their students safe each day.
