Mexico face Chile, eye 1st win of WC

Mexico, the seven-time CONCACAF and two-time FIFA Under-17 World Cup champion, is in a perilous state.

Mexico, who are on one point from two matches with a draw against Iraq, will qualify for the round-of-16 if they beat struggling Chile in the Group F match at the Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium on Saturday. And also pray that Iraq lose to England in Kolkata.

The Central Americans are now third in the group with one point.

Dawood struck in the sixth and 68th minutes in the Group F match and led a one-man attack superbly as a historic pre- quarterfinal berth beckons the Lions of Mesopotamia in their second U-17 World Cup appearance.

Mexico were held 1-1 by surprise package Iraq in their first match. They lost both the matches to England and Iraq.

The Chile team, the second place finishers in the South American qualifiers, has been having a wretched run in the tournament.
