Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos christens the company's new Texas wind farm.

Even in the age of coal enthusiast President Donald Trump, clean-energy developers are finding plenty of interest in wind and solar power from businesses with sustainability targets, especially technology companies.

"Together, these projects will generate enough clean energy to power over 330,000 homes annually", the company said.

Amazon estimates that their clean energy projects generate hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars to the communities that house them. That's Amazon.com's largest wind farm to date, and the latest in a string of wind and solar projects backed by the tech giant. "These are important steps toward reaching our long-term goal to power our global infrastructure using 100 percent renewable energy", she added.

"Scurry County has always been a hub for the energy industry and we're excited to expand our commitment to wind power generation with Amazon and LCE". The solar farms deliver energy to the electrical grids that power current and future Amazon Web Services Cloud data centers.

Kara Hurst, Amazon's director of sustainability, said in a news release that the company has 18 wind and solar projects running across the USA, and 35 more in the works. Together, the five projects will generate more than 2.6 million MWh of renewable energy each year, or enough to power more than 240,000 United States homes. In the long term, Amazon is hoping to increase that to 100 percent.
