Having MIL-STD-810 certification, the tablet can "survive excessive pressure, temperatures, environments, vibration, and drops". It also comes equipped with a 1.2m anti-shock casing, and both the tablet and its S Pen stylus support IP68-rated water and dust resistance.

Samsung Electronics introduced the Galaxy Tab Active2, the second version of its Galaxy Tab Active business-rugged tablet built for businesses. The South Korean tech giant delivered the news ...

The 8-inch WXGA TFT screen with 1280 x 800 resolution is perhaps not ideal, but the product's target audience may care more about the support for "gloved and wet touch" than pixel density.

The Tab Active 2 also sports a fingerprint scanner that's located on the front but in case you wear gloves on the job, you can also unlock the device with the help of facial recognition. In addition, the Galaxy Tab Active2 has professional-grade vehicle mounting options for commercial fleets and law enforcement through partnerships with Gamber-Johnson and Ram Mounts.

Of course, just because it's aimed at business users doesn't mean it can't serve as a personal tablet for entertainment purposes. The Galaxy Tab Active 2 is certified to meet military specifications.

The device will go on sale starting this month in select markets, although there's no word yet on which ones exactly. The price of the device is not yet confirmed but it is expected to come around $500.
