Speaking to reporters after the PAC meeting, congress Kerala unit (KPCC) president M M Hassan said that the party would decide on its future course of action as regards the solar scam after obtaining expert legal opinion.

Briefing reporters about the deliberations of the committee here on Saturday, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president M.M. Hassan said the committee had unanimously resolved to fight the cases.

The party would launch an intensive campaign against the government's decision, which it said was taken with "ulterior motives", in connection with the report of the Justice G Sivarajan Commission, which investigated the scam, he added. The government was framing cases of sexual harassment and corruption against leaders such as Oommen Chandy, K.C. Venugopal, and others with political vengeance, he said.

Meanwhile, former KPCC president V M Sudheeran reportedly sharply criticised the previous congress-led united democratic front (UDF) government at the PAC meeting over its handling of the financial fraud cases that came to known as the solar scam.

The KPCC president also alleged that the LDF government made a decision to convene a special assembly session on November 9 to table the judicial commission report on the solar scam in a bid to save face.

It had been proved that the advocate general and director general of prosecution had given a legal opinion, overstepping the commission's findings, he claimed.

Hassan alleged that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had announced the decision to order criminal and vigilance proceedings against the Congress leaders without consulting the law department or his cabinet colleagues.
