Deoband churns communal hatred with fresh fatwa

Mohammad Shafiq Khan, Ulema, Darul Uloom told ANI, "If a Muslim worships any God except Allah they don't remain Muslims". According to this body, the women worshiped another God than Allah, which is not permitted by the Holy Quran. The diktat says, those who worship any God except Allah are no more Muslims.

Nazneen Ansari, whose singing in praise of Lord Rama invited "fatwa" from the cleric of Darul Uloom Deoband against her and her group of Muslim women, opened a direct front against the seminary demanding a ban on it and a high level probe into its funding and links for national interest. The event was organised by Muslim Mahila Foundation and Vishal Bharat Sansthan to promote communal harmony.

In the fatwa, one of the largest Islamic seminaries in India had said that posting photos of self or family on social media sites such as Facebook, WhatsApp is not allowed in Islam. The MMF will write to the PM and UP chief minister urging an investigation into the role of Darul Uloom Deoband, she said.

Earlier this month, the seminary prohibited women against shaping their eyebrows and cutting their hair, terming all such hair-grooming activities as "un-Islamic".
