Trailing into the fourth quarter, No. 18 Michigan State got a 10-yard touchdown pass from Brian Lewerke to Felton Davis with 5:59 to play in the game to give the Spartans a 17-9 victory over Indiana.

MLive photographer Mike Mulholland was on the sidelines for all of the action, and there were plenty of photo highlights despite the lack of offense. Then LJ Scott ran 18 yards for a touchdown for Michigan State, which may have actually helped the Hoosiers because it gave them the ball back with 1:49 remaining and a chance to tie it. The extra point by Matt Coghlin put Michigan State (6-1, 4-0 Big Ten) ahead 10-9.

IN (3-4, 0-4) had one final drive but couldn't move past midfield.

Indiana: The Hoosiers have four losses on the season - Saturday's, plus defeats against Ohio State, Penn State and MI. Tony Fields forced the fumble and recovered it, but the Spartans defense twice stuffed Ramsey for no gain and the Hoosiers settled for a 33-yard field goal from Oakes to take a 3-0 lead with 26 seconds left in the first half.

Michigan State's offense remained stuck in park to open the second half with two straight punts leading to in putting together and impressive 13-play drive that stalled in Spartans territory. While senior Richard Lagow provides experience, as he led IN to a win over Michigan State last season, many around the program believe Ramsey provides the intangibles that can guide a good team to greatness.

Griffin Oakes kicked three field goals for IN, the last of which put the Hoosiers up 9-3 with 12:29 remaining. Lewerke completed a short pass to freshman Hunter Rison to convert fourth-and-3, and a reverse to Davis on the next play gained 16 yards, setting up first down at the IN 13.
