Sherin Mathews went missing October 7 after her father said he made her stay outside because she wouldn't drink her milk.

The child's father said that when he checked 15 minutes later, Sherin was gone.

Although her attorney said otherwise, Richardson police claimed the couple was not cooperating with law enforcement.

Police didn't say how the child died but said they are waiting for the FBI's recovery team to respond. A cause of death also has not been identified. She suffered from malnourishment before arriving in the United States and is on a special diet, said Sergeant Kevin Perlich, a spokesman for the Richardson Police Department.

Wesley was charged with child endangerment but was reportedly released from jail on bond.

The body is presumed to be that of three year old Sherin Mathews, reported missing by her parents on October 7th.

"I think the community needs to heal, but more than anything, she needs to be at peace", Vemula says.

Using drones, the police concentrated their search efforts in a field near Richland College, which is less than two miles from the Mathews home.

The press conference was called for after information began spreading that volunteer searches at Spring Valley and Bowser close to the Mathews' residence, had found a lead. An arrest has not been made in connection with the discovery of the body.

Police said she had "developmental issues and has limited verbal communication skills". Sherin's 4-year-old sister has been taken into custody by child protective services and placed in foster care.

During their investigation, police found that someone had driven the family's SUV away from the home and returned an hour later on the morning that Sherin went missing. He has stopped cooperating with detectives, according to CBS 11.

Wesley was the last person to see the child.
