It seems Blizzard wants to bring Battle.net's social and personalization more in line with Xbox Live, PSN and Discord, which is in line with the social-heavy mobile app they released last month. Think of it as a really easy last-minute birthday present. In the case of Hearthstone, players can choose to gift standard card packs, welcome bundles, new heroes, and upcoming expansion packs. The giftee will see a gift notification pop up on the upper right corner of the Blizzard app. It also opens up chats with friends offline, allowing users to send messages to offline recipients, who will receive them once they log back in. The gaming portal now has a tab dedicated to chats and groups, while the service is also introducing personal profiles and avatars for players to customize to their liking. "When it's time to go offline, you can easily catch up on conversations you might have missed once you return", Blizzard said about the new feature.

To celebrate this update and offer an idea of how it works, Blizzard is giving Hearthstone players a free Classic pack for their account.

Battle.net will now have a Social menu tab, granting users access to things like groups, social spaces and individual avatars.
