The centre, after stretching the Naga peace talks beyond NSCN (IM) and bringing on board all Naga outfits barring NSCN (K), for the first time will hold discussion in Nagaland on Monday.

The interlocutor for Naga peace talks, RN Ravi today lauded the Naga tribal grassroots organisations and civil societies for making it possible for the six Naga National Political Groups (NNGPs), who are now formally party to the peace process, to come together.“This is a historic development because howsoever comprehensive the Naga issue, we can not leave anyone out of the peace process.

On December 14, 2016, these groups, at the behest of the Naga Tribal Council, came together in Dimapur to form a working group to usher in permanent solution to the Naga issue, thus showing their willingness since the framework agreement was signed in August 2015 to be a part of the ongoing peace talks.

"Such positive development has made the political process go to a higher level, with an objective to have inclusive talk on equal footing with a hope to provide a sustainable peace in our land", the statement added.

In a representation addressed to interlocutor, the Sumi Hoho president, Hekhushe Shikhu, Western Sumi Hoho president, Zheshito Swu, and Sumi Hoho general secretary, I Nikheto Jimomi, said that while the talks seemed to be heading in the "right direction", leaving out any Naga National Political Groups out of the ambit of the talks could become partial success and even be disastrous for the Nagas.

Atem said that talks with government of India are in final stages.
