UPDATE: Scottsdale PD has issued a statement confirming the arrest, along with Maxwell's booking photo.

Scottsdale police said they went to Maxwell's home Saturday night after receiving calls that a person had a gun.

Oakland Athletics catcher Bruce Maxwell has been arrested after he allegedly pointed a gun at a female food delivery person.

On top of the aggravated assault charge, Maxwell was also booked for disorderly conduct.

According to TMZ Sports, which first reported the news, Maxwell was arrested at 6:08 p.m. MST in Scottsdale, Arizona, at his home. He was projected to be Oakland's starting catcher next year.

In September, Bruce Maxwell became the first Major League Baseball player to kneel as a protest during the national anthem.

That claim was disputed by the waiter Matt Henry who claimed that "I didn't even know who Bruce Maxwell was".

Maxwell is now in jail awaiting his initial appearance before a judge, where he will be arraigned and receive bail.

Maxwell, 26, has appeared in 109 games for the A's over the past two seasons.
