Aronimink (Pa.) Golf Club has been awarded a men's and women's major championship - the 2027 PGA Championship and the 2020 KPMG Women's PGA Championship - the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Monday.

Aronimink earned widespread acclaim from golf fans when it hosted Tiger Woods' National tournament in 2010 and 2011 as then-regular host Congressional Country Club was preparing to host the 2011 US Open. The idea of holding national events at the club became more feasible after Aronimink embarked on an extensive course restoration in October of previous year.

The prestigious club, designed by Donald Ross and listed 78th in the latest Golf Digest America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses ranking, is being restored by Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner. The PGA of America named it as host of the 1993 PGA, but the club pulled out of the agreement in November 1990 when it determined it could not have minorities as part of its membership by the time of the event.

For the third time in a week, the site of an upcoming PGA Championship has been learned.

Gary Player won the PGA Championship in 1962, the last time it was held at Aronimink. The event shifts to May in 2019 as the second major when it comes to Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, N.Y. The association also formally will announce this week that the PGA Championship will return to Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky., in 2024.

With the announcement, the PGA Championship will be locked in for 10 of the next 13 years.
