He said no person in a position of responsibility resigns because a case is filed against him or her. "Until then Mr George will continue as a minister in my Cabinet", he declared.

Siddaramaiah told ANI, "Already the matter has been discussed in the house and in the council".

"As continuation of George in the cabinet has become untenable, he should resign or be sacked till the CBI investigation is completed and he is acquitted". I even advised him not to do so, but on moral grounds he did.

The FIR against George was filed on October 14 in Chennai on the September 5 order of the Supreme Court, which is hearing a special review petition filed by the father and son of Ganapathy against the minister and two senior police officers of the state. "Currently, the opposition is demanding his resignation again, and this time, the whole party is adamant on the issue". No one resigns just because there is an FIR. If that was the case, then scores of ministers and leaders across the country should hand in their resignations. Although Chairman of the Legislative Council D.H. Shankarmurthy did not allow the adjournment motion saying there was no precedence to allow adjournment motion in the Upper House, the BJP members stuck to their demand forcing the chairman to adjourn the House to Tuesday. Mr Siddaramaiah recalled that FIRs had been filed against 25 Union ministers too but they had not resigned and several Ministers in other states also had FIRs lodged against them but are in office.

Belagavi: Although the BJP held a day-long dharna in the legislature on Monday for the resignation of Bengaluru Development Minister, K J George, for his alleged involvement in the suicide of DySP, M K Ganapati, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah made it clear he had no intention of asking him to quit.

Ganapathy allegedly killed himself in a lodge in Kodagu on July 7, 2016 when he was the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Mangaluru).
