Jerry Jones 'laughs' in the face of National Football League attacks

The range of punishments, according to the Times, includes fines, docking draft picks and even suspending Jones, who has owned the Cowboys since 1989.

On Saturday, committee chairman Arthur Blank of the Atlanta Falcons removed Jones as an ad-hoc, non-voting member of the committee due to his threat to sue. We've got all the time in the world to extend him.

In addition to the cease-and-desist warning, some owners are reportedly discussing a nuclear option - the long-shot possibility of making Jones forfeit his ownership in the Cowboys.

Jerry Jones has never been one to bow to external pressure, and now that six of his fellow owners have sent him a message, loud and clear, that he should stop interfering with Roger Goodell's contract extension, it sure doesn't seem like he's going to waver.

Belson's latest article also mentions something that PFT has consistently reported, and that others in the media have pooh-poohed: Some owners believe that Jones instigated Papa John's CEO John Schnatter to publicly disparage the league during a recent earnings conference call, blaming reduced corporate revenues on the NFL's current controversies and ratings declines.

Jones had no issue giving the OK to go ahead with an extension for Goodell in May, but that was before the Ezekiel Elliott suspension and Jones' criticism of Goodell's leadership regarding player protests during the playing of the national anthem. "We just need to slow this train down and have a lot of time to discuss the issues at hand in the National Football League and have a good, fair input from all the owners, which we're not getting".
