Christopher Plummer has responded to the reveal that he will replace Kevin Spacey in Ridley Scott's upcoming thriller "All the Money in the World".

"It isn't replacing. In a amusing way it's starting all over again because it's going to be different, naturally", Plummer toldEntertainment Tonight. Plummer said that the Spacey situation is "very sad" in an interview with Vanity Fair. "Kevin is such a talented and a terrifically gifted actor, and it's so sad". It's such a shame. "That's all I can say, because that's it", he said. I'm very saddened by what happened to Kevin, but what can I do?

The controversial opinion provoked an outcry online, as social media users flocked to Twitter to express their anger.

While another vented that the victims deserved sympathy and that Spacey was the perpetrator.

Another quoted Plummer's comments sarcastically and said: 'It's very sad what's happened to him? To HIM? Someone better fill Plummer in on the details [sic]'.

Scott had dropped Spacey from his upcoming film "All The Money In The World" in wake of multiple allegations of sexual misconduct and harassment against him.

Plummer is taking on the role of J. Paul Getty in the Ridley Scott drama after Scott and the studio made a decision to replace Spacey due to the sexual misconduct allegations against him. It's starting all over again'.
