A new report published by the Wall Street Journal ranks Boston as the second-best city overall for Amazon's new headquarters.

With Amazon on the hunt for the ideal match for its new headquarters, small towns across the country have one question for Amazon: Why not us? Based on this criteria, it found that Dallas would be the ideal fit for HQ2, based partly on the lack of state income tax in Texas. But the company is also factoring in things like cultural fit, the cost of living and the favorability of the state tax climate for business.

"Boston boasts a great sports-bar scene (10 professional-sports titles since 2000 will do that), and a millennial population that has grown about nine percent since 2012", the report said.

Atlanta, Chicago and Denver were the three cities that matched up most closely with Seattle, Amazon's current home, while New York, Washington D.C. and Chicago were the three with the most tech talent.

"This vibrant retail environment will also provide opportunities for a range of customized Amazon spaces such as Amazon Go, Whole Foods and Amazon Books", the city wrote.
