Amazon's Echo line of smart speakers (powered by the AI assistant Alexa) was the first to market, but only in the USA and the UK. "The combination of Alexa and Echo provides customers with hands-free access to music, weather, news, information, and more-just ask". Amazon is offering a promotional discount on Echo devices in Canada to celebrate the launch. Note that those are "special introductory" prices, which will only be available for a "limited time", Amazon said.

Morrisons Launches Amazon Alexa Voice Ordering Service

After what seems like years smuggling grey market Echoes north of the border and using them with U.S. Amazon accounts (what, I never did that!), Canadians can now safely, and properly, use Amazon's Echo products with an Alexa assistant that's optimized for our "w-eh" of talking. Pricing and Availability Echo, Echo Plus, and Echo Dot are available for pre-order starting today at www.amazon.ca/echo and will begin shipping December 5. Amazon says Alexa will speak English with a Canadian accent and have local knowledge and local skills - Alexa's voice-activated apps - made by Canadian developers. Additionally, the company also revealed that its Prime Music streaming service is also now available to Prime members in Canada. Echo devices will also be available at Best Buy, The Source, Staples, TELUS, Bell, Bed Bath & Beyond, and TSC: Today's Shopping Choice.
