The police shot at a man who was trying to cross over the wall of a high-security Hindon airbase on Tuesday midnight. He was preparing "to take a ride" on one of the planes at the air base, he said.

The man later regretted jumping the Hindon airbase wall and said that he won't do it again.

"There are variations in his statement", a police source said.

He then tried to enter through Gate No. 1 where he was again noticed by the security personnel.

After that, he was shifted to a military hospital at the air base in Sahibabad.

After this incident, the security around the airbase has been beefed up.

He was warned repeatedly before being shot at below his knees.

A senior official told IANS that the accused originally hailed from Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Call details are being fetched.
