He replied that hereafter the CM would not be invited for felicitation of NCP leaders.

Mumbai, Nov 14 The NCP may not invite Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the party events to honour its stalwarts to ensure that there is no "misconception" among the masses, senior leader Ajit Pawar said today.

Maharashtra NCP unit vice president Rameshchandra Bang, who was in the convoy, said Pawar asked his driver to pull over after he spotted a vehicle involved in an accident. "It just shows the State's politicians are mature enough to rise above party politics". Mr. Pawar added that such interactions, however, sent out the wrong message to the party cadre and so "we will be taking care to keep a safe distance from the government and to attack its lapses on every front". Chandrakant Patil, the number two in the state Cabinet recently attended a function of NCP state chief Sunil Tatkare.

These events take place in the backdrop of the BJP's souring ties with ally Shiv Sena, setting tongues wagging about a political re-alignment in the state. The leader made his stand clear that henceforth no NCP leader would share a stage with Mr Fadnavis or BJP leaders. "We do attend opposition leaders' personal functions and that should not be seen as a political move".
