Shakira has been forced to postpone the European dates of her world tour until 2018 due to vocal issues. The Colombian singer posted a message in both English and Spanish in which she announced that her entire tour has been postponed until next year! "At the moment I find myself in a hard battle as I try to fully recover".

She added: "It pains me not to be able to sing this month, for those have done even the impossible to get tickets and accompany me throughout the different countries of Europe". In the end, she confirmed she will not be touring until further notice.

"During these last few days of rehearsals I have unfortunately strained my vocal chords and as a result, my doctors have ordered me to go on vocal rest to avoid any greater damage that could keep me from performing". Towards the end of October though, in the home stretch of my rehearsals, I felt a unusual hoarseness that impeded my singing.

Shakira's break does make sense, particularly because the main treatment option for a vocal cord hemorrhage is strict vocal rest for at least a week, Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) explains.

And above all, for my fans, who have always been by my side through the good and the bad, and who deserve the best of me.

"As such, and with a heavy heart, I must announce that I find myself obliged to postpone my European tour until 2018, to allow my body several necessary weeks, dedicated to my complete recovery". We hope the singer will get well soon!
