Subaru has just announced that they will be heading to the LA Auto Show this year with their new Subaru Ascent in tow.

Unlike the unloved, too-small Tribeca that came before it, the Ascent is likely to be big enough to make American buyers happy.

The vehicle will be built at the Subaru plant in Indiana, USA, and the company is yet to confirm whether it will be built in right-hand drive for Australia.

Subaru has teased its upcoming seven-seat SUV, the Ascent, on Twitter ahead of its debut at the Los Angeles motor show.

The accompanying teaser image doesn't tell us a lot about the car's final design, aside from it having an upright tailgate, a black rear bumper, and wraparound taillights featuring a C-shaped motif. It will be based on a modified version of the Subaru Global Platform. If the Viziv-7 was a barometer for the Ascent's size, we can expect a near 200 inches in length, putting it at the top-end of the crossover SUV size scale. Rumors suggest a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine will be the primary source of power for this product.

The 2019 Ascent is expected to arrive in early 2018.
