The most powerful "Corvette" presented officially

While the new Corvette ZR1 was developed at the Nürburgring, the final prototypes haven't had the chance yet to attempt a record run.

Chevrolet has officially unveiled the 2019 Corvette ZR1. "Its unprecedented performance puts all other global supercars on notice that the ZR1 is back". This thing is certifiably insane, mostly due to its LT5 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 powerplant that throws down 755 horsepower and 715 pound-feet of torque - that's a whopping 105 horsepower and 65 pound-feet more than the already-incredible Corvette Z06. After much clamoring - and some rumors the ZR1 would be the mid-engine Corvette - Chevy has announced the ZR1 will return in 2019 as a front-engine, rear-driven beast.

This powertrain pushes the mighty Corvette ZR1 to a 210-mph top speed. The first is a standard rear Low Wing which is able to deliver 70 percent more downforce than the Corvette Z06's base aero package.

Chevrolet will be offering two aerodynamic packages.

Wing High Wing is part of a package ZTK Performance, which also includes carbon-fiber splitter with end plates, active dampers with magnetorheological fluid and tires Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2.

As for the cabin, the 2019 Corvette ZR1 features a driver-focused cockpit with leather upholstery, microfiber inserts, heated and ventilated seats, carbon fiber-rimmed steering wheel, a Bose premium audio system and more.

Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter told me that while the record run is not a priority for them, they will do it sometime after the vehicle goes on sale next spring, hoping to break the seven minute barrier.
