At least two ski resorts in Washington state have announced opening dates as multiple storms bring snow to the Cascade Mountains. British Columbia's Whistler resort opens Friday.

With the possibility of 3 feet or more of new snow by Wednesday night, officials at Mt. Baker Ski Area say they're opening Thursday.

Snow forecasts last week had led Crystal's operators to announce a likely opening of last Friday, but winds blew much of the falling snow off the mountain late in the week and the opening was postponed. Updated conditions can be found on the resort's website.

Crystal warns that the coverage on the Downhill and Queens run is still a little thin at the base, so you may not want to use brand new equipment. Q13 Chief Meteorologist Walter Kelley said 50 inches of snow could accumulate at the ski resorts by the end of the week. Just a bit more is needed.

Originally scheduled to open November 23, Whistler Mountain will open November 17 with 20 runs and five lifts.
