Tonight, clouds increase with light rain and snow (Adirondacks) showers kicking off after midnight over northern NY. After a break on Wednesday, another storm moves in late Wednesday and early Thursday bringing valley rain and mountain snow.

This system comes after a storm moved through OR and Washington on Monday, with heavy rains, hurricane-force wind gusts and heavy snows in the mountains. Lows in the mid 30's. Southwest wind 15 to 25 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 30 miles per hour.

The weekend looks mostly dry with high temperatures only reaching the 30s before the next possible weather system moves through Sunday night and into Monday. As more moisture streams into the area from the south and low pressure takes control, drizzle will transition into rain showers by this evening. Now as more information comes in, this system has been weakening over time, so we are not expecting a lot of snow, however, by Thursday night and Friday morning many passes will be snow covered leading to hard travel conditions. Wednesday night, showers likely, mainly after 11pm. Parts of the state could also experience wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour.
