Earlier today, THQ Nordic announced that it had acquired Swedish games studio Experiment 101, as well as the intellectual property of Biomutant, the upcoming open-world RPG for the PlayStation 4.

All of Experiment 101's shares are now in possession of Nordic, marking the fourth Swedish company the publisher has acquired alongside the likes of Mirage Game Studios, Foxglove Studios, and Pieces Interactive. Experiment 101 is now working on Biomutant for Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. Biomutant is planned for release on PS4, Xbox One & PC sometime in 2018.

SURVIVE IN A VIBRANT OPEN WORLD: You'll create your own adventure as you journey explore the open world and what lies beneath its surface, by foot, mech, jet-ski, air-balloon and more. The game was one of the biggest surprises to come out of Gamescom 2017 due to its visuals and gameplay.

THQ Nordic hasn't said much on the acquisition, but when a Twitter user compared it to what EA has been doing, the studio had a good reply ready to go. Though they had been confirmed to publishing the game, THQ Nordic now add both the developer and the IP to their diverse portfolio of titles that includes such series like Darksiders - which itself is getting a third instalment currently in-development.
