The first trailer for video game movie Rampage dropped last night, giving us our first look at the film based on the Midway-created 80's arcade smash-em-up series starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

After the first images and the very first poster just yesterday, Warner Bros. Rampage is directed by Brad Peyton who most recently worked on San Andreas with Johnson.

Primatologist Davis Okoye (Dwayne Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry mutates this gentle ape into a raging creature of enormous size.

Many expected a mindless and chaotic flick once Rampage was announced, but from the trailer it's clear that it's going to be a lot more emotional than we could ever have thought. To make matters worse, it's soon discovered there are other similarly altered animals.

Along with Johnson, Rampage also stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead), Naomie Harris (Moonlight), Joe Manganiello (upcoming Deathstroke), Malin Akerman (Watchmen), Jake Lacy (The Office), Jack Quaid (The Hunger Games) and P.J. Byrne (The Wolf of Wall Street).

Building on a 1980s video game in which up to three colossal creatures tear apart tower blocks one by one, Rampage adjusts the concept to include an inadvisable breeding program that wouldn't be too out of place in a Jurassic Park movie.
