Country music star Neil McCoy recently debuted a new song that targets the National Football League protests - and it's going viral.

Neal McCoy debuted his song to a live audience for the first time last week, and also streamed the performance on Facebook Live, Buzzfeed reports.

According to UPROXX, the country music singer released a track titled "Take A Knee..."

"I've been on 15 USO tours", McCoy says.

"So, no, this is not a money grab", he added.

"Take a Knee. My Ass" is available for download via iTunes and Amazon.

The song talks about the men and women in our military who are fighting or fought for our freedoms and the need to stand for the flag.

A year ago, former National Football League player Colin Kaepernick made a decision to fight for equality and social justice off the field, but used his platform on the turf to spread his message.

McCoy has recorded himself reciting the pledge of allegiance on Facebook Live almost every day for the last two years.

"Whatever [Kaepernick] was trying to do, with civil unrest, maybe African Americans being treated wrong, or not equally, and some of that's right", he said.

The song is a response to the protests against police brutality and racial inequality, where dozens of professional athletes - primarily in the NFL - kneeled during the national anthem. Maybe that's what he was trying to do.
