The 59-yard drive was Maryland's only scoring drive of the game.

Either quarterback has a solid pair of targets in wide receivers Taivon Jacobs (career-high eight catches, 92 yards against Michigan) and DJ Moore (Big Ten-best 64 receptions) to throw to, though the Terrapins are averaging just 164 yards a game through the air.

The Spartans (8-3, 6-2 Big Ten, No. 17 CFP) rushed for 271 yards, and that was about the only way they could move the ball in yet another Michigan State game affected by the elements. Lewerke only completed one pass in the first half. The Spartans beat Penn State on November 4 in a game interrupted for over three hours by a weather delay.

Michigan State had a 14-0 lead at halftime through the strength of its ground game with running back LJ Scott and quarterback Brian Lewerke. Fortunately for the Spartans, the big effort from their star running back was enough to get the job done.

Maryland is just hoping to stay healthy under center for a week after Ryan Brand became the fourth different quarterback to start a game for the Terrapins this season last week against MI, though the player he replaced, Max Bortenschlager, may be ready to return against the Spartans.

Sophomore running back Lorenzo Harrison III got Maryland on the board in the third quarter with a 4-yard touchdown run.

Which quarterback starts this week will be uncertain up until kickoff, just as it was last week when Maryland coach DJ Durkin named the former walk-on Brand the starter right before the loss to MI. It's the Terps' third straight loss and sixth in their last seven games.

Michigan State: The Spartans close the regular season at Rutgers.
