Some things we can not control. I know what is in my hands and that is the session tomorrow.

Silva, speaking to Sky Sports' Geoff Shreeves ahead of Watford's home game with West Ham on Super Sunday, said his and his side's focus was "100 per cent on the game".

Will Hughes scored the first for the Hornets and Richarlison registered his fifth Premier League goal to move them into eighth place.

The Watford manager is in demand, with Everton desperate to make him their new manager following the sacking of Ronald Koeman.

The club's under-23 coach David Unsworth is now in caretaker charge, but the Hornets are determined to reject any attempts to lure Silva away.

Reports say the Merseysiders will now offer £12m in compensation, but Watford are unwilling to release the former Hull manager at any price.

"We will not countenance an approach for our manager, either from Everton or indeed any other club, be it in the Premier League or overseas", a spokesman for Watford had told Sky Sports earlier in the week.

"I look at this situation like when sometimes teams don't perform well and people start to talk about "maybe they will sack the coach".

He added: "I know the speculation and people ask questions of our commitment, but me and my players gave a very good answer about our commitment".

"There has been not one change in our work. Every day is the same in our work".
