Manson, 83, was in a Bakersfield, Calif., hospital and his condition was unclear, the Los Angeles Times reported, citing Kern County Sheriff's lieutenant Bill Smallwood. "It's not going to get any better for him", a source said shortly before his death, explaining that the inmate had undergone various procedures, all while being accompanied by five cops.

"Manson was an evil, sophisticated con man with twisted and warped moral values".

A fading swastika tattoo sits between his eyebrows as a permanent reminder of the horror that Manson created in the late 1960's, as leader of the "Manson Family" cult.

Charles Manson, the cult leader who sent followers known as the "Manson Family" out to commit gruesome murders, now being held at California State Prison, Corcoran, Calif., is seen in this August 2017 photo.

Manson was convicted of orchestrating the 1969 murders of pregnant actress Sharon Tate and six others by his followers in Southern California. But all were spared execution when a U.S. Supreme Court ruling temporarily banned the death penalty in 1972. His sentence was changed to life in prison with the possibility of parole. He was recently hospitalized in January for an intestinal lesion and returned to prison.
