National Republicans can't get rid of Roy Moore

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Friday that Trump finds the allegations against Moore "extremely troubling" but won't intervene in the election.

Short tells ABC's "This Week" that if Trump "did not believe that the women's accusations were credible, he would be down campaigning for Roy Moore".

And Moore has grown more defiant - with his wife on Friday insisting there's no way he will drop out of the race.

Collins noted she was against Moore before the "terrible allegations" came out against him, citing his conduct as chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, as well as his anti-Muslim and anti-LGBT comments.

Republicans hold a 52-48 edge in the Senate, and the narrow majority has already made it hard for Republicans to push through its agenda.

After Leigh Corfman told The Washington Post that Moore molested her when she was 14 and he was in his 30s, Moore claimed that he didn't know her.

President Donald Trump has not remarked publicly on the allegations against Moore.

"Who that has been accused of sexual assault would have the gall to preach to others about sexual misconduct?" Luther Strange in the election, but endorsed Moore after he won the primary.

Trump was damaged in 2016 by the "Access Hollywood" tape in which he described kissing women and grabbing their privates without permission, and by 16 women accusing him of sexual misconduct. Scott said he thinks there was "a strong possibility with a new candidate, a new Republican candidate, a proven conservative, that we can win that race".

Moore has pledged to fight the accusations against him as the state GOP in Alabama reaffirmed its support for the embattled candidate. The White House said Trump supported the RNC's decision, which came as the party absorbed polling data showing Moore trailing Democrat Doug Jones in the Republican stronghold.

Nelson says that Moore had offered her a ride home around 10 p.m., when her shift ended.
