On Monday, High Court bench of Acting Chief Justice, Gita Mittal, and Justice C Hari Shankar suggests to Airlift 108 feet Hanuman statue located in Karol Bagh area.

The bench quoted an instance from the United States where an entire skyscraper was airlifted and was quoted by the Indian Express as saying, "Consider if the statue can be airlifted".

The court asked the Delhi civic body to speak to Delhi's Lt Governor Anil Baijal on the issue.

The court expressed displeasure over several illegal constructions in the national capital and referred to the U.S. where it said entire skyscrapers have been airlifted.

Anguished over illegal constructions in the capital, the court said enough opportunities had been given to municipal bodies of the Capital to enforce the law, "but no one wants to do it".

The matter came up before the bench today as the local authorities were seeking a modification with regard to the police station which would be responsible for implementing the court's November 15 direction to remove encroachments from the area.

Earlier this year the Delhi HC had set up a committee to look into the illegal constructions in the capital and had directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to remove all encroachments on the Southern Ridge.

The court also said that if civic bodies can "at even one place show that the law was being enforced, the mindset of the people of Delhi would change", the court said while hearing the petition. The request was later adjusted and recorded for hearing on November 24.
