Georgetown PD: One hospitalized after shooting in Walmart parking lot

Georgetown Police are investigating after a man was shot in the parking lot of Walmart overnight Friday.

Police responded to Georgetown Memorial Hospital Friday after a man was shot around 3 a.m., officials said.

The victim told police he got into a verbal altercation with the suspect at the Sonoco gas station on North Fraser Street. When he reached the Walmart parking lot, the person he was arguing with confronted him.

Reports of shots fired during a melee at a Hoover, Alabama mall were discounted by police, however fighting was reported inside the mall between two girls.

Anderson drove to the hospital, where doctors say his wound is non-life threatening.

Police said they do not know the identify of the suspect or why the altercation started.

There has been no identification of the suspect in the incident, and the scene is still under investigation according to the Facebook post. Anyone with information is asked to call the Georgetown Police at 843-545-4300 or call the TIP Line at 843-545-4400.
