As the Edmonton Oilers try to turn around their disappointing season, they'll have to do it without goaltender Cam Talbot. The 30-year-old Talbot, who sat out practice with an upper-body injury on Wednesday, will miss at least the Oilers' next two games.

Ellis, 23, has posted a 5-5-1 mark with one shutout, a 2.82 goals-against average and.914 save percentage in 11 games this season with the Condors.

The Oilers (10-13-2) enter play Thursday five points behind the Chicago Blackhawks for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference, and six points behind the San Jose Sharks for third place in the Pacific Division. Laurent Brossoit is expected to start Thursday against the Maple Leafs.

Edmonton called up goaltender Nick Ellis from Bakersfield of the American Hockey League.
