Jonathan Freeny is coming back to New England. This will mark Freeny's second stint with the Patriots.

Freeny had been released as part of the final roster cuts this year, on September 2. After being released by the Patriots, he spent time with the Ravens and Jaguars this season. Freeny spent two months with the Rush before returning to the National Football League to sign with Miami's practice squad in December 2011.

The Patriots re-signed the linebacker, the team announced on Wednesday. After spending his first season on the Dolphins practice squad, he played the next three seasons playing for Miami (2012-14), before being signed as a free agent by New England on March 11, 2015. Last season, Freeny injured his shoulder in October and was placed on the injured reserve list after just five games.
