Only a select few filmmakers that are not named George Lucas have had the privilege of helming a Star Wars film wit The Last Jedi helmer Rian Johnson is the latest to venture into the galaxy.

Kennedy told Newshub that she thought Waititi had "exactly the right sensibility" for a Star Wars film.

She told Newshub he'd be flawless after enjoying his "amazing" work with Thor: Ragnarok.

During an interview, Kathleen Kennedy said the Kiwi director "has exactly the right sensibility".

Speaking to Newshub, Kennedy said: "I would love for him [Waititi] to direct a "Star Wars" movie. Very exciting to see him step into the Marvel universe and do such an wonderful job with Thor".

Kennedy made sure to joke to the host that she "let him know" about Kennedy's interest in his abilities. Remember how Lucasfilm chose to fire the tag-team because they made Solo: A Star Wars Story too comedic and encouraged the cast to do too much improv?

Since the boss herself has offered a job to direct the Star Wars movie, Taika Waititi might want to reconsider. When a fan on Twitter asked him if he'd like to do a film in the series he said: "Lolz". Waititi is just the latest example of this formula, and has now demonstrated this formula's effectiveness, with Thor: Ragnarok having grossed over $800 million worldwide.

Episode IX director Colin Trevorrow was recently replaced by JJ Abrams, while The Lego Movie's Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were fired from their Han Solo movie. He had once told Uproxx, "I'm not an idiot".

Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi might have his next job lined up. Well, guess who else likes improv - Waititi. "Who would actually say no to Star Wars"?.
