No. 2 Kansas couldn't overcome a stifling Washington defense and suffered its first defeat of the season, a 74-65 final at the Jayhawk Shootout in Kansas City on Wednesday.

Junior Jayhawks guard Lagerald Vick poured in 28 points on 12-for-23 shooting, but was unable to one-man army Kansas past Washington.

Noah Dickerson added 13 points and 14 rebounds for the Huskies (7-2), who knocked the Jayhawks (7-1) from the ranks of the unbeaten with their first victory over them since December 1974. Senior leading scorer Devonte' Graham finished the game 1-for-8 shooting with just three points (averaging 18.6 points per game coming into the night), while senior Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk shot just 3-for-12 (and 2-for-8 from deep) in his own right. On the other side of the court, the Jayhawks went 5-for-20 from deep.

Passing, shooting or both, Graham leads KU against Washington

After early season losses to Providence and Virginia Tech, Washington has rebounded to win five in a row.

The Huskies, who have won five in a row since losing to Virginia Tech on November 17, will have a chance to add another quality line item to their resume Sunday when they host a 12th-ranked Gonzaga team that's looking to avoid consecutive losses following a 16-point defeat at the hands of Villanova on Tuesday.
