Director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, War for the Planet of the Apes) has already hinted that he has someone in mind to assume the Bat-mantle should Ben Affleck step down and it looks like Hamm might be just the guy.

While Ben Affleck is expected to appear as Batman in a standalone Flash movie, it is highly unlikely he will don the cape and cowl in Matt Reeves' planned standalone Batman movie.

Affleck's first portrayal of the character was in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and, while his performance wasn't singled out as being disappointing, the overall film received incredibly poor reviews. But it seems that the so-called "Batfleck" is no more.

Rumors of Affleck's exit were seemingly confirmed as he distanced himself from The Batman, with Reeves taking over directorial duties.

Jon Hamm is actively pursuing the role of Batman, according to Radar Online. Their friendship is reportedly still solid, as they have "enjoyed working together" and have "been on good terms ever since", but Hamm isn't backing down from landing the part he so ardently wants.

It's said Jon Hamm is friends with Ben Affleck and realizes that Affleck has faced some criticism, but according to the site, Jon Hamm feels he is the better Batman. "This is business for Jon, not personal".
