The team behind The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, The Astronauts, are working on a dark fantasy shooter called Witchfire. The teaser trailer had a cheeky joke for viewers, referring to the studio's most recent title The Vanishing of Ethan Carter and giving off a "walking simulator" vibe before adding that it's "also" from the developers of shooters Painkiller and Bulletstorm. Although we don't have much information on the upcoming title, the awards ceremony did unveil the game's first official trailer in front of a worldwide audience.

As you can see in the teaser, Witchfire uses the photogrammetry tech we previously used in The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. It looks like guns won't be the only way of fighting back against the terrifying enemies, however, as shown by one short scene that highlights the player's special abilities. So this game is an indie team returning home in a sort.

No release date has been attached the project, and no platforms besides PC have been announced.

The announcement didn't reveal which systems Witchfire is in development for or a release window.
